Oil paint is fun to work with! It is very versatile, historic, rich and colorful. It just takes a touch of knowledge and a bit of practice to enjoy using this paint. Therefore, this class will consist of four easy sessions about painting landscapes.
The first session will be to learn the paint and tools, practice color mixing, brush techniques and layering paint. We will paint small, 2” x 3” landscapes for practice.
In the second session, a reference photo will be provided, and we will learn how to transfer the image onto a canvas. We will decide what colors to use. Then, we will paint the thin underlayer to set up the painting.
The third session will be devoted to painting the canvas from the first layer of color through several more coats until we are ready to apply the final details. We will learn more about mixing colors, using brush techniques and layering paint.
The fourth session will be about adding final details and, depending on our progress, we will have a finished gem of a painting. If we don’t finish, no worries - we will have learned the skills and have the confidence to finish the painting at home.
Most classes are limited to 8-12 people depending on the class.
We have sanitizing stations at the front of the store.
Our restrooms are not open to the public, but open for students.
