with Beth Thielen, Local Artist
Paste papers are one of the earliest methods used to decorate paper. It was used from the late 16th century through the 18th century to create book covers and endpapers. Using contemporary materials of Methyl Cellulose and Acrylic paints, this class will teach how to create your own supply of decorative papers for books or collage.
Beth Thielen's work and the work of her students are represented in the Getty Museum of Art, the Hammer Museum of Art, the Library of Congress Special Collections, the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art, Houghton Library at Harvard, Yale University, the Spencer Collection at the New York Public Library, as well as other important public and private collections. She is the recipient of awards from the Puffin Foundation, the Kalliopeia Foundation and is a Blue Mountain Center and Rauschenberg residency fellow.
